ICBC Tokyo Branch Issues Listed RMB Bond in Japan for the First Time
 

ICBC Tokyo Branch successfully issued RMB 500 million bond in Japan on October 25, 2016, becoming the first Chinese bank to issue listed RMB bond in Japan. The bonds were listed in the Tokyo Stock Exchange on November 1.

The bond issued by ICBC Tokyo Branch totals RMB 500 million with a period of 3 years and a coupon rate of 3.8%. The issuance has attracted subscription from international market investors including Japanese investors, and ultimately received five-time over-subscription.

According to an official of ICBC Tokyo branch, the successful issuance of RMB bonds is an innovative attempt of ICBC to promote its RMB business in Japan. ICBC Tokyo branch will take this opportunity to deepen development of cross-border RMB business.
