【Quality Financial Services/Green Finance】ICBC Attends BRICS Energy Cooperation Forum as the Chair Organization of BRICS Business Council Chinese Chapter

Recently, the first BRICS Energy Cooperation Forum was held in Beijing, and the Energy and Green Economy Working Group of the BRICS Business Council issued a joint initiative on “Contributing Energy to BRICS Sustainable Development in the Post-Pandemic Era”. ICBC attended and addressed at the Forum as the Chair organization of BRICS Business Council Chinese Chapter. As the Chair organization of BRICS Business Council Chinese Chapter, the world’s largest green credit bank , ICBC will implement the joint initiative substantially, strengthen collaboration, closely follow the Strategy for BRICS Economic Partnership 2025, deepen pragmatic cooperation and reinforce complementary advantages. It will enhance innovation driving, focus on energy transformation, intensify joint research and actively share results. In addition, ICBC will strengthen risk awareness, balance between development and emission reduction, economic progress and livelihood guarantee, energy security and financial security, play its role as a platform for the Business Council and the Working Group, and integrate the strengths of BRICS countries to promote greater cooperation.

As a model of cooperation among emerging markets and developing countries, the BRICS cooperation mechanism has demonstrated strong resilience and vigor in jointly addressing global challenges. Since its establishment, the BRICS Business Council has attached great importance to energy cooperation and green development, and actively supported the Energy and Green Economy Working Group in enhancing global energy security and promoting global sustainable development, injecting “BRICS power”. Focusing on the theme of “Deepening BRICS Energy Cooperation for Green Transition and Development”, the BRICS Energy Cooperation Forum invited Chinese members of the BRICS Business Council and representatives of foreign chapters, officials from the embassies of four countries in China and representatives of relevant enterprises to conduct exchanges and discussions on the world energy development and BRICS energy cooperation.
